Brief
Deliver a premium, emotionally resonant TVC for Aptamil/Mellin that captures the pivotal “first steps” of infancy, based on a concept by HAVAS. The objective was to produce a high-end visual narrative that balanced technical complexity—including practical rain and VFX—with an accelerated production schedule, ensuring a world-class finish suitable for international markets.
Project Challenges
The project demanded the coordination of delicate variables under a compressed timeline. Managing infants, practical rain effects, and narrow physical spaces created a logistical bottleneck. Success required a Director-led approach to mitigate these constraints without compromising the soft, intimate aesthetic essential to the Aptamil brand.
Strategic Angle
The creative strategy centered on the “Architecture of Protection.” In just thirty seconds, the visual language had to communicate three pillars: the inherent fragility of early childhood, the unconditional shield of family love, and the value of preparedness. This was mainly represented in an impossible, iconic hero shot from above of the whole family under the rain protected by an umbrella.
Moodboard
The visual DNA was defined by “Atmospheric Tenderness.” We utilized a palette of cool, rainy cyans and greys contrasted against the warm, saturated skin tones of the protagonists. The lighting was designed to feel naturalistic yet heightened, emphasizing textures like water droplets and soft fabrics to create a sensory, tactile experience for the viewer.
Storyboard
Efficiency was engineered through precise camera blocking. To navigate the narrow set and the unpredictability of working with infants, every frame was pre-calculated to minimize equipment reset times. We utilized a “Mobile-First” framing philosophy—tight, intimate compositions that transitioned seamlessly from the external “chaos” of the elements to the internal safety of the family unit.
Style Frames
The final frames represent a masterclass in technical synergy. By integrating virtual pre-visualization with practical SFX, we achieved a cinematic depth that transcended the initial brief. The effectiveness of this visual execution was confirmed when the campaign was scaled globally, with the client acquiring broadcast rights for 17 countries based on the strength of the final delivery.
