Brief
The European Science Forum is one of the most important science related events in the world. We were contacted by Sintesi HUB to create a teaser for the 2020 event edition.
Problem Statement & Pain Points
The project was slowly written and developed in one direction, and then the COVID pandemic hit, and made us get back to square one. We had to rethink the whole angle of the campaign, to match the current zeitgeist
Strategic Angle
COVID was a challenge, but was also the main opportunity to work around the sense of urgency that emerged from it. Only Science can take us out of such conundrum, as it happened.
I had to connect this conflict with the City, something recognizable. The European focus was also important to maintain. That's how the concept matured into illuminism and history, how Europe went from the dark ages to the birth of modern science. The lighthouse of Trieste then becomes the symbol of the light that science can cast on darkness.
Moodboard
I worked with historical references to create custom animations of Newton, and other protagonists of european science to create a flowing piece about darkness and light
Storyboard
Light and darkness was the main concept, so we worked around it from a color and contrast perspective.
