Brief
In 2017 we went to the San Isidro Valley in Boliva, to follow the story of Andrea and Alice, two volunteers of ACCRI NGO and discover the inner journey of a joint project between the people from the valley, the government and the NGO to bring drinking water to hundreds of families. This documentary is the result of that experience.
Problem Statement & Pain Points
The main challenge was to portray the role of volunteers, and what did this mean for the community when the approach is based on empowerment. There were only 6 days to gather intervews, raw scenes of work and create the whole narrative arc.
We had to show how enriching is for both community and volunteers to be a part of that experience, that is no playground.
Strategic Angle
I approached the project in a reactive way, through an initial hypothesis that was then rearranged based on the events that unfolded during that week. There were two main arcs: the experience of the volunteers. and the experience of the community. The strategy was to align them narratively, and create a storytelling three acts around real facts.
We accomplished that through editing and ad hoc re-enacments to rebuild the timelines.
